Finding My Way as a Multipotentialite - Living My Life Purpose Across Many Paths

For as long as I can remember, I’ve lived life with one foot in several different worlds. While some people seem to have one clear passion or career path, I’ve always been drawn to many. Creative art and design, healing work, spiritual exploration, storytelling, mindfulness, social impact—I’ve pursued them all. And for a long time, I wondered if that made me scattered or unfocused. It took time, deep reflection, and a lot of inner work to realize: I’m not lost—I’m a multipotentialite.

A multipotentialite is someone with many interests, creative pursuits, and potential career paths—not just one true calling, but many. We’re the kind of people who dive deeply into new ideas, fall in love with learning, and feel lit up by possibilities. We don’t fit neatly into a box, and the traditional model of choosing one path for life never quite worked for us. If you’ve ever felt like you have a hundred ideas and not enough lifetimes to explore them, you might be a multipotentialite, too.

Some of our strengths are also our greatest gifts: adaptability, creativity, curiosity, and the ability to see patterns and details others might miss. We’re often deep thinkers and bridge-builders. We connect the dots between disciplines, blend our passions into something new, and bring unique perspectives to the world. At our best, we’re catalysts for transformation—inside ourselves and in the lives of those we serve.

But let’s be honest: being a multipotentialite isn’t always easy. It can feel overwhelming to hold so many dreams at once. We can struggle with indecision, fear of missing out, and the pressure to “pick one thing.” We sometimes worry that we’ll never be successful unless we narrow ourselves into a niche. For years, I wrestled with this. I would pour myself into one path, only to feel stifled and called toward something else. I thought maybe I was just flaky or couldn’t commit. But I’ve come to see that my path isn’t fragmented—it’s woven.

Living my purpose didn’t mean forcing myself into a single mold. It meant honoring all of who I am and designing a life where my diverse passions could coexist.

Through my work with Minor Details Design, I help others clarify their lifestyle desires and what “home” means to them. Through my healing work, I hold space for people to come home to themselves, mind, body, and spirit. These paths may look different on the surface, but at their core, they are both rooted in connection, authenticity, and transformation.

If you’re a multipotentialite trying to find your way, here’s what I want you to know: your many passions are not a problem. They are a powerful part of your purpose. YOU are not a problem to be solved. YOU are a work of art - in the process of becoming who you are intended to be.

The key is not to suppress your interests, but to integrate them in a way that feels authentic and aligned. Here are a few insights I’ve picked up along the way that might support you:

  1. Embrace Your Inner Compass.
Instead of searching for an external map, learn to listen to your inner wisdom. What brings you joy, insight and that special spark of energy? What themes keep showing up in your life, even across different disciplines? These patterns are clues to your core purpose. Learn to trust your own powerful intuition.

  2. Define Success on Your Own Terms.
Let go of the idea that you have to become “the best” at one thing to be worthy. Success for a multipotentialite might mean a meaningful mix of projects, a portfolio career, or an evolving path of impact and exploration. It’s okay if your version of success looks different.

  3. Create a Container for Your Gifts.
I’ve found that clarity comes when you give your work a shared vision or umbrella. For example, my websites, Kaden Scott and Minor Details Design may showcase different aspects of what I do, but they are both anchored in the same values: intention, presence, alignment, authentic living, artistry, and healing. This gives coherence to my path without limiting it.

  4. Make Peace with Seasons.
You don’t have to do everything all at once. Life has seasons. You might focus on one passion deeply for a time and later pivot to another. Each chapter builds upon the last. Nothing is wasted. Learn to lean into the dry spells when it seems like nothing is happening. Sit quietly in those times and listen. Practice being rather than doing.

  5. Find or Create Community.
You’re not alone. More and more people are realizing they, too, don’t fit the single-track model. Surround yourself with others who honor multidimensional living. It’s empowering to be seen and supported in your full expression.

Most importantly, trust that you are here for a reason. Your many interests aren’t distractions—they are threads in a larger tapestry that only you can weave. There’s freedom in letting go of the pressure to “figure it all out” and instead showing up each day in alignment with your values, your truth, and your creative spirit.

My journey as a multipotentialite hasn’t always been linear, but it’s been rich, full, and uniquely mine. If you’re on this path too, know that it’s not about choosing one thing—it’s about becoming everything you already are.

And that, to me, is the real calling.
